Cultural patterns in Shahid Al-Halfi's novels

This study addressed the topic of (Cultural Patterns in the Novels of Shahid al-Halfi) through an in-depth analysis of the social، political، and religious patterns in his novels. The research aimed to highlight the role of cultural patterns in shaping the image of Iraqi society and reveal the positions and ideas expressed by the writer through his characters and visions. The study relied on a descriptive and analytical approach and was divided into several chapters addressing linguistic patterns، customs and traditions، the social roles of women، as well as the political and religious concepts that intersect with the texts. The study highlighted that language in al-Halfi's works plays a social and cultural role، as he employed satirical، colloquial، poetic، and Quranic language to represent the various patterns. It also addressed social patterns through depictions of dress، food، housing، customs، traditions، and the role of women through their physical image، motherhood، and religious symbolism. The political themes were represented by depictions of conflicts، wars، power، and history، with a focus on the concept of homeland and identity، the political system، and state institutions. Regarding the religious aspect، the study revealed that the writer expresses his alienation through depictions of religious themes represented by symbols، rituals، teachings، the system of sanctity، and Quranic intertextuality، while criticizing misunderstandings of religion، extremism، and excessive sanctification. In conclusion، the study concluded that Shahid al-Halfi's novels reflect the social، political، and religious situation in Iraq، revealing dominant cultural themes and expressing his critical vision of various phenomena، with a focus on the importance of cultural criticism in understanding the depth of texts and analyzing them from multiple perspectives.
